Shopping Day

I usually really hate feet (and as such would avoid posting pictures of mine), but I am a real big fan of these sandals I picked up from Old Navy today. I've worn them around the house since I bought them.

My Camera Phone Now Speaks

So Megan just told me how to get my camera phone pictures on the
Internet. And so this post is possible because of her kindness and
generosity. Yay!! =)

I've been thinking about Seussical a lot lately, probably because it's
Spring Musicale time at home... and I listened to the soundtrack as
I walked to work yesterday. What a fun time we had... I can't
believe I was such a bum about it towards the end. I totally missed
out. Here's the opening number, which was sung by me and my best
friend Kyle in our version, to accompany these never-before-seen-
behind-the-scenes photos previously enslaved on my phone.

Chris (my daddy, Mayor of Whoville).

Me (JoJo) and Kyle (the Cat in the Hat) practicing our "amazed" and "in wonder" faces as I discover... um, Seussland.

Greg (General Genghis Khan Schmitz) shaping me up. Well, pretending. It took a while not to laugh through this scene.

See, just kidding! Me and Greg are best friends! =D

Kyle trying on his ruffle shirt for his beach serving boy scene for the first time... HILARIOUS. And whoever made that ruffle shirt? GENIUS.

Me with the puppet of me! I really appreciate the buck teeth and crazy eyes. Please realize this is not a literal interpretation. (P.S. I'm really angry this won't un-double space...)

Greg (as the General)'s puppet. Please notice that my puppet skin is tan, and Greg's is white because he is one of the palest people we know. His was an accurate visual representation.

Kyle, acting out the scene with our puppets.

Kyle waiting to answer phones at our PBS fundraising drive, also used to raise awareness for the play. As you can see, things were slow. Poor PBS.

Greg, waiting for dress rehearsal. It happened to be during our Fine Arts week. =)

Upon Our Visit to the Cannon...

Today for the first time at the Cannon Center, I got Pink Lemonade, and boy, was it pink. (I guess because it was "Poppin'" Pink, according to Hi-C.) Then Stephanie came up with a nice blue mixture of something, and I suggested we should fill glasses with all the colors of the rainbow. She got so excited, and ran around the Cannon concocting drinks to get all the rest of the colors. Here's our finished product:

We arranged them in a flower shape on their own tray to turn in, so hopefully the workers will be happy with us instead of angry they have to empty and wash 8 more cups. I'd be happy.

Curly Hair Catastrophe

I've been thinking lately about cutting my hair again... eh. Apparently managing curly hair is an intensely serious business. "get a curly-hair stylist", "make sure they cut it dry", "don't shampoo every day", "get lots of light layers" blah blah BLAH. Looking through pictures for ideas, I've realized some things:

I liked my hair long, but right now it is in the awkward stage, and I definitely don't want it to grow this long:

And P.S. celebrities, you can try and be cool, but this is just not considered "curly":

Anyways. Apparently my face is heart shaped (aw), and that is part of why I am afraid. Also though because I think a big factor on whether your haircut looks good is body type and shape. So basically I'm scared and don't know what to do, because I'm pretty sure my hair looks like this right now on a good day (which is scary, because this isn't even me):

So here are some photos I found for inspiration:
I feel like this is not what would happen in real life.

Eh. Too short, perhaps?

I think this would work for thinner hair... too bad her curls look way cute. (and probably are fake. curly-haired posers.)

This kind of reminds me of above-the-chin cut I had in middle school, where my hair looked like a triangle. This is why I am afraid.

Seems very impractical for me. But Eva Longoria sure looks cute in it.

I feel like is the only one that's kind of plausible. Maybe it's just because it looks frizzy-ish, like mine is.

Her transformation gives me hope. I think she looks pretty cute.

Ok, I just felt like this one was the best example of normal people curly hair. Totally cute:

So. I realize I'll probably have to spend more money and lots more time on product and prep in the morning, but I mean... for nice curly hair for once, I'd be willing to try. Hmph.

P.S. Emmy Rossum, you are my curly-haired HERO(ine, I guess).

Mom Said

My mom sends out an email about our family (at home)'s week every Sunday night, and last night's was pretty interesting. Here's what she wrote after telling about a convert baptism they had between sessions of Conference on Sunday, where our two full-time missionaries gave the talks on baptism and the Holy Ghost, and each broke down into tears.

And I had the most interesting thought cross my mind. I thought about the story of Ammon in the Book of Mormon, how he went to the Lamanites. When King Lamoni’s servants found him they bound him and brought him before the king. By the time Ammon had talked with the king for a few minutes, the king was ready to offer one of his daughters to Ammon for a wife! And that’s how I was feeling about those missionaries; like they are the kind of young men I’d like to see our daughters marry. (Don’t worry girls, I didn’t sign any documents or anything!!!)

I think this would be intriguing anyway... but especially since Elder Romney has been serving in our ward since August, when we left for school. It was with him and his first companion (in our ward, at least), Elder Durrant, that it first hit me that the missionaries were my age. MY age. I mean, I'd always thought some missionaries were cute or whatever, but now that I was mature enough to actually talk to them, I was also beginning to realize other things as well. I felt so gross at home for even thinking about the missionaries, because... I mean, they're missionaries. I felt like I committed a sin every I time I smiled at them or something. But out here at school where marriage is a lot hotter topic than at home, I've been thinking about Elder Romney a lot. You know, just things like wondering how he's doing, what he'll do after his mission, and maybe what his first name is. He was one of the nicest and most sincere guys I've ever met... but I still feel like a creeper. But now Mom said something about him, too.

Kindof...

SYTYCD

I've recently been getting into watching old episodes of So You Think You Can Dance... people have forever been telling me it's a great show, but I was like, yeah, whatever. But then ABC stopped running new episodes of all their shows I follow (YOU'RE DUMB, ABC), so I searched for SYTYCD online a little. Hello, awesome!!! Here's one of my favorite routines. How clever!

P.S. Chelsie got eliminated after this dance (ALSO DUMB), but now she's on Dancing with the Stars. Ha! Take that, uneducated voting American public!

The Final Countdown

8 days left of class
7 days until visiting the Planetarium
6 classes this semester
5 finals to take
4 unscheduled finals on my time
3 days of pure work
2 reading days to study up for weekend tests
1 full day off work

... then HOME!!

1,051,897.53 Minutes

I've been to the MTC to see off missionaries twice, and both times it has been an incredible experience for me. To see boys my age crying without trying to hide it and be manly... 2 years is such a long time. I thought it didn't seem like a big deal before, but really. Jordan and I have only 3 more Book of Mormon classes together, one more band class, and a band concert. I am so going to miss him. He came with me to get free cookies in the Wilk after BoM today... I wouldn't have gone by myself. And while I was in the chapel of the MTC today, watching that movie and listening to the speakers, all I could think about was when Jordan would be standing in this very place. His life is going to totally change, and I won't be there to witness it or laugh with him at it or help him through it, and that makes me sad.

Me: "We only have three more Book of Mormon classes, and then I won't sit next to you again FOREVER."
Jordan: "Forever is a long time."

Right now, two years seems like it, too. And he hasn't even left yet. What is my problem?

And how can a year have a not whole number of minutes?
Dang Google.
